Curriculum Foundation

I. Music Theory and Basic Piano Technique - students learn scales, chords, intervals, time and key signatures and apply them through the study of basic piano techniques.

II. DAW Modern Production Techniques - Music Theory is then applied to producing music in the modern Digital Audio Workstation.  Melodies and rhythms are composed against chord sets and laid into the DAW for sound synthesis and sequencing.

III. Recording Interns - Students work directly with professional musicians from the New York City area to record professional projects and albums in the HSUM Professional Recording facility.  Culture and tradition of the indigenous music of NYC (jazz, latin jazz/salsa, rock, hip-hop) is passed down to the student.
