This EP release features the conjunto performing an original trio of arrangements and compositions that introduce harmonic and rhythmic twists in a set that includes a fresh treatment on the Tito Rodriguez rarity “No Sueñes Despierto”, my new original latin jazz composition “Paraíso” and and a white-hot take on a brand new arrangement of Roberto Roena’s “Tu Loco Loco”.
Paraíso features some of the brightest lights in the San Francisco Bay Area that have performed with or have been influenced by the “Nuyorican” salsa tradition, including Conjunto Libre alumnus John Calloway on flute, vocalist Carlos Rosario of “La Verdad” and trumpet phenom Mike Olmos.
"A new star is emerging with trombone in his heart and Salsa Dura in his soul." Jesse "Chuy" Varela, Latin Beat Magazine."
